USB 2 cable for USB 1 port?

Well I've got my iPod mini, but I forgot to buy a Firewire and/or USB 2 port in all the excitement of getting the mini. :rolleyes:
Now I was wondering if I could use the USB 2 cable for the USB 1 port as well? If I connect the cable to the USB 1 port it charges the mini up. Does it work for transferring songs as well? Thanks.

Yes it will work if you are using a windows computer. But remember that transferring songs with usb1 will be far slower than usb2 or firewire.
