well, I had to cancel my order for the green mini:mad: from amazon.

what set me off was an original confirmation email that said my order would be delivered by Feb 23, 2005. An apparent typo? not exactly....

I called Amazon (which for your information, is the hardest number to find: 1-800-201-7575). the customer service rep said that that was a hold date (uh huh, ok...) and that my order would be shipped between March 22 and April 16th, but they were guaranteed by April 16th (oh, that's comforting). She said I was high on the list to get it....but, I cannot wait 1-2 months for something that keeps popping up at other places.

Where I go to school is about 60 miles away from Atlanta, and I am to tired from the week I've had (4 midterms) to drive all over that city to find the green ipod. Here in my little college town of Athens, GA, we have 2 Super Wal-Marts (count 'em, 2!), a best buy, a circuit city, Target, and Office Max. The circuit city here is a shame, and the best buy here only has silver (I like the silver, but where's the originality! I apologize to my silver-toting mini friends:D ).

Alas, I found the green (hopefully:rolleyes: ) in stock at compusa.com...who knows, when I wake up in the morning, I'll probably get a nice little confirmation email about a January 2007 ship date (24-48 hours my ###).

Ok, don't me to rant/go off on a tangent.

Morale of the story: Don't buy your min from amazon.com!!!

Its not just Amazon. The Apple store has bumped the next batch to late march, and thats considered an optimistic prediction. I'd get your mini as fast as possible since by all accounts the store batches are extremely limited.

well, I just ordered the mini from compusa.com about an hour ago (2:15am EST)- on their site, it says "usually ships in 24-48 hours," which I'm hoping means that it is in stock...

They had them stacked to the ceiling at the Apple store here in Orlando last night.

There were maybe 40 people in line at 6 o'clock, but it looked like they had hundreds of units. There were more silver and blue then any other colors. They only had a few greens, the guy I went up there with got the second to last green one by 6:30.

Maybe Apple under estimated the demand for the green model.

Well, I already ordered mine (silver) from Amazon.com and it shipped a couple of days ago, expected arrival is Monday. They might be running low on supplies, and if you didn't order in the first few weeks, its very possible that they had to push an order back.

Sorry you had a bad experience with them... I've generally been pleased with their service. And to save an extra $20 or so over Apple (no tax, no shipping), I'll wait a couple of days.

...if they have the price and the Mini you want.

Free shipping on many items, no tax, a good company and a good deal.

Many retailers will be running out of initial stock, or will not have received stock as promised from Apple. Apple.com will run out soon if they haven't already. Retail stores will have some, for a while, some will have supplies longer than others. It happens all the time.

Moral of the story: DON'T PANIC! It will be ok.

Hi ugaguy2004....just wanted to know when you placed that order with Amazon that you had to cancel. I have an estimated ship date of Feb. 1st 2005 and I ordered mine on Jan 28th. I'm thinking of giving them a call to find out my actual ship date. Someone I work with placed his order the day before me and he has his already (same color as mine...blue). Thanks in advance!

Yep, they are a good retailer overall. I was willing to wait a couple of days to save more than $20. If you want it right away, well go to a retail outlet I guess.
