When you browse by artist and you select one you first go to a screen listing their albums and then you go to the screen with the actual songs. Is there a way to remove the screen with the albums?

I don't think so. You couly try removing all album entries (tags) for your artists but you wouldn't want to do that, would you? :)

You can do this by creating a Playlist (or Smart Playlist) containing nothing but that artists songs. Granted, this would be a lot of work if you have hundreds of artists on your iPod, but you might want to do it for a select few artists.
