Yes. It's just like the regular Ipod. I was listening to an audio book earlier, and had to pause it, came back later pushed play to turn unit back on and it started from where I had left off. Hope that helps. :)

Note that this is only for audiobooks purchased from either iTunes or Audible.com. If you have any that were obtained through means that wouldn't be considered ethical in certain circles, the audio file resets to he beginning when you turn on your iPod again.

The same is true for any ETHICAL audiobooks not obtained from iTunes or Audible.com (i.e. Ripped from your own audio CDs).

It's actually fairly easy to do that.
Tap on the center "Select" button once. The track position indicator will change from a grey-ed out bar to a single diamond. Now you can use the touch wheel to "scrub" to your desired time spot--- QUICKLY.

So it is fair to assume that I am playing an mp3, turn off the ipod for 3hrs, 6hrs, 2 days or whatever. It will resume at the same point of the mp3 where it left off?
I'm not interested in audio books :)
Your mp3 will resume at the last point you left it after 3 hours, 6 hours.
But not after two days - your iPod will go into a "deep sleep" and lose track of where it was playing last if you haven't touched it for two days :P

So then I would have to tell my ipod to go into x playlist and change it to shuffle mode again? How long do I have before "deep sleep" mode takes effect?
Thanks

How long do I have before "deep sleep" mode takes effect? think it's about 24 hours.

If the iPod or iPod mini is left in sleep for about 36 hours, it will fall into deep sleep.
