Can't Restore

Hey all. So, I've got a problem. I have an iPod Touch 16 gig, and have had it now for 3 months or so. I've had no real problems with it, but noticed this week that it seemed to be lagging between screens. I'd tap music and it would hesitate then load when before it seemed snappier. This would happen with all application taps. So I decided I'd restore and update it. Here's the problem, my iTunes returns this message, "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2003)." Then when I hit the OK button on that my iPod is no longer showing on iTunes. Any ideas?

Have you tried resetting it first on the ipod itself?

I think what dmonk means is just shutting down the ipod by holding the button on top of the ipod. this should actually help.
if it doesn't ... I read in forums that sometimes re-installing iTunes solved the problems. sometimes trying it on another computer helped recognizing the iPod. also make sure you have iTunes 7.5 installed and if you're running windows XP that you have SP2 installed.
