had a n95 a few months back (got carried away with all the hype surrounding the sat nav feature), and to my dismay on i found out that the battery life was so poor. only after a week i sold the thing.

one of my main issues with having a device that does everything is that you've only got one battery for everything.

phone will always be in standby, i will use my ipod for around 2/3hrs everyday.
really i would just like an honest review of what you think of the battery performance?

i have been reading a number of folks on these pages that have had problems with their battery dying after less then a day of use, i hope this is a rarity.

what are your thoughts on the infamous ipod battery life debate?

The problem with assessing battery life on a device like the iPhone or the N95 is that not everybody uses it the same way.

In terms of overall standby time, the battery does fairly well, but since most people don't leave the phone in their pocket all day, your actual mileage is going to vary.

Making phone calls and watching videos will probably have the most serious impact on battery life, with web surfing and heavy e-mail use coming in a fairly close second. Simply listening to audio is not nearly as bad, since the display is not normally on, and very little power is being consumed.

You'll generally find that the iPhone needs to hit a charger every night with typical use, and it may even get close to the wire on a long day. My own usage tends to involve perhaps 30-45 minutes of video playback usage per day, about 1.5-2h of talk time, and basic web surfing and e-mail use (generally short, quick replies, and web browsing to read a few RSS feeds or look up basic information like phone numbers and directions).

I've never actually had it go dead on me when I've needed it, but it's dropped into the red a few times by the time I've been on my way home after a long day.
