Ok, I just ordered my mini [green, for those of you wondering:D ] from amazon- supposed to ship by tomorrow (best buy here only has silver...sigh)
ANYWAY, I am an avid runner and, without paying much attention, I started to add the armband to my purchase- then I realized I would be paying $30.00 :eek: for a piece of plastic and an elastic strap! I mean, I just shelled out $250 for the little guy...I thought the band would be like $10- 15$ tops...
Anyone know if any third parties are making any compatible armbands? I know belkin has a tendency to make products that compliment the ipod.
ok, don't mean to hate on apple, but $30? :confused:

Yeah I run often as well, and I figured the armband would be a no-brainer, until I saw that it was $30. From what I have read so far, it is a really nice armband, and I just don't feel like waiting for a third-party one to come out, since I want to start using it ASAP, and working out is the main reason I bought it. Well, guess I'll just bite the bullet on it. Hopefully its worth the money.

I pre-ordered the Jam Jacket Pro mini, which comes with a velocro-able armband that I guess you feed through the back of the case. $25 -- as soon as I get it I will post a review.

thanks for the suggestions- seems like other people (third parties) are jumping on the bandwagon for accessories...still a little high though...
maybe i'll get alittle creative with some duck tape....:D
I made myself a home made arm band for my 3G using my old Nike Sticky 5H|T. I find it better than the Apple. althought this can only be use for running i u care about it's look. if not, u can use it as long as nothing is above it for u have to pull 1/2 the ipod to press play.

I bought the armband from apple direct...had it for $26 with the academic discount...sigh...
Oh well, this sort of thing is of inelastic demand- I knew i had to have it regardless of price....
any info about the other bands would be intersting though.

Try $34 for the armband at fry's. I thought it was a typo, but they're selling it for $34. Arm band. a band for your arm.
This reeks of Steve Jobs' huge ego. And I'm his slave :( I tried so hard to switch from Apple on principle alone, but the ipod really has the mp3 player thing down cold vs the competition.
But let it be known that Apple's prices are highway robbery for the ipod accessories. $39 for the mini's dock, when it uses the same dock connector as the regular ipod? To me that is just a money-making move.
That said, I'll be shelling out for my armband now b/c I've just got to have it :>

yeah, there's nothing like a piece of neoprene and some elastic to make you feel..you know...taken!
it's ok, though- we all do it...i did it....i'm so sad...why did god make me a gadget person?! and why do i need an armband!!!????:confused:
next week, the big thing will be an anklet band with 5 different color options, with replacement bands for $26 a pop...

I went to Fry's also and saw that the armband was $34...I thought that was fishy coz on the shelf it was listed at $24. So I asked the sales person which was the right price. All the armbands boxes were marked at $34 and I mentioned that apple's selling it for $29. He went to the computer and checked it out and changed it to $24.
So when indoubt always ask...that how I got my mini before 6pm on Friday too!

ya know, i agree that it does seem a little over priced, but if you do pay that much for an iPod mini, you do want to protect it and buy the best product to do that. And not all companies are like this, but usually you get what you pay for. if you wait around and buy some cheapo case that is less expensive, you are more likely to get a piece of crap, and could end up damaging your iPod. I hate to pay that much for an armband too, but i probably would, just because you usually get what you pay for.
