Ipod Touch Receipt/Warranty question

Ok, so I received an Ipod Touch as a gift and therefore I do not have a receipt. I've checked the site and it says I'm covered till December of 2008.

So my question is, if I wanted to send back my Ipod Touch due to problems, can I do that without the receipt or is the receipt mandatory? I'm looking for them to fix the battery-life btw.

I'm pretty sure they'll accept it without a receipt since it's only been out for 4 months...

No receipt needed. If you've checked the site and it says it's covered until December, '08, it's covered. They are tracked by serial number.
