I currently have Cingular and just got an iphone as a gift, now I want to know if I could just insert the SIM on the iphone, would it worK?? And where is the Sim slot on the phone....

no the old sum won't work. I tried when I got mine. And the sim slot is on the top, you need to put a paper clip in the hole.

Jailbreak it and unlock it, then it will work. Make sure not to use edge if you don't have a data plan

Or since you're already on Cingular, you could switch your plan over and add an iPhone data plan ($20 extra if you don't already have a data plan) and be able to use EDGE when you're not in WiFi range. Jailbreaking might not be worth it to you since you're already on Cingular anyway.

I agree with Dyvim. Just pay the $20 and get the whole service with visual voicemail and everything. Activating the iPhone just reups your 2 year agreement if I'm not mistaken.

yeah but i cant. i call cingular and they told me that if i want to add i need either to open a new account or move all the numbers from the account to another and they charge like 5 bucks for each line,......We have a business account, company account.

I already jailbreak it and is working fine with the cingular sim now....

Just another question? Can i still get the data plan, will it work? And whats the difference of having and not having it?

If you have a data plan you wont be charged for using edge to surf the web. Its cheap and you don't have to worry about a huge bill.
