Shortening cable on headphones/replacing plugs?

Aside from requiring a soldering iron, what's involved in shortening the cable for a pair of Shure EC2s? I may want to replace the right angle cable as well, so it works better with the shure or other iPhone adapters . . . Can I just cut the cable, resolder together, and that's that? Or am I completely off here??

I recommend leaving it alone.

Any replacement plug u may likely to find is BIG in comparison and is not gonna give u that streamlined profile yer seeking.
