I am trying to find a good quality A/V dock for an iPod classic! My father in law want to replace his 100 disc changer with an iPod but would like to be able to see the menu on his tv.

I looked at the griffen 9801-tcenter but haven't seen any good reviews on it. Any help would be great.

Just a thought, why not look at an Apple TV. It is not portable, but it works like an iPod with on screen displays. You can sync it like an iPod or stream content from a computers iTunes including video over a home WiFi network. It does work with some SD TV's but should be connected to an HD TV.

I would wait till after the mid January MacWorld conference before buying one since it has not been updated in awhile. The rumored video rentals from iTunes store may include an updated version.

A decent quality dock that will output menus to a screen will run you $150. Apple TV makes a heckuva nice system for streaming audio to a home theater, plus it does a whole lot more. If an Apple TV 2.0 doesn't debut at Macworld, you can get an Apple TV for as little as $229 for Apple.com (refurbished).

Apple TV will match the capacity of an iPod classic if you buy the 160GB model.

If it's going to be connected to an HDTV, I'd say Apple TV too, unless he wants to take it with him. But of course, wait until later this month for all your Apple purchases- just in case.
