whenever i plug in my ipod, the "sync ipod" button is gray and won't let me click on it.
i downloaded a bunch of new songs, but because of this its not letting me put them on my ipod.
what do i need to do to make the sync ipod button clickable again?

If you don't have the sync button, you may have your iPod set to "manually manage songs and videos", if so you can drag/drop songs to the iPod.

If you want to automatic sync, change the setting, but understand that if you change to automatically update songs and playlists, that any songs not in iTunes will be deleted from the iPod.

you can change that setting when you connected your ipod to itunes and then click on it in the left bar in itunes. there is a button to search for firmware-updates, restore your ipod and below that there are 3 checkboxes. one of them is "manually manage music and videos". uncheck that and apply, then your ipod should sync and the sync button should be available.
