I use both my iPhone and my 160GB Classic everyday. I use the Classic in the car during my job and my iPhone to listen to music at my job while closing the store. When I sync both of these it will merge the recently played list from both usually pretty accurately. It's been several days since I synced both of them and I just had one minor problem this time. An album that I listened to on Friday night on the iPhone doesn't show up in the recently played and it currently shows no plays for each track.
I am wondering if the iPhone has a limited memory on how many days it will go with storing recently played info. The music I listened to last night on the iPhone shows in the recently played. I guess maybe I should get in the habbit of syncing nightly again.

Although I normally sync every night when I'm at home, when I'm travelling I can sometimes go several days or even a week between syncs. I have not encountered any limitations on how long the recently-played information is stored, however I have experienced glitches in the past with play count information occasionally not syncing up properly with iTunes from various models of iPod. I have not seen this behaviour recently, however.
One issue I did encounter last week was that the iPhone rebooted automatically in the middle of a playlist. All tracks that had been played prior to the restart were not marked as played, and did not update in iTunes when I synced my iPhone.

I have a "Recently Played" smart playlist in iTunes on my computer. I use it to update my iScrobbler for Last.fm. I sync my iPod using "Sync Selected Playlists." I do not have this playlist synced with my iPod. I've checked. Many times. I've looked for any other "Recenly Played" playlists in iTunes. There aren't any.
However, I have a "Recently Played" playlist on my iPod. And it updates live. I've re-synced my iPod many times, and restored the iPod to get rid of any bugaboos.
Is there a default "Recently Played" playlist on the iPod that I've never noticed before? Is it impossible to remove it from the iPod?
