Hey folks,
After my wife spent hard earned money on the new Ipod touch, the headphones lasted 1 day.
Totally blown ear buds on the second day! Where the hell is the QC with this!
I'm going to the apple store with the proof sunday.

wow, I've never heard of Apple ear buds blowing.....
Here's a suggestion: Get better earphones. Seriously, the Apple earbuds really do blow, so consider this a blessing to get an upgrade.

1138 has a point.... they aren't very good anyway, probably not worth the fix unless you want a backup one laying around =/

I use the default buds and some nice in-ears, depending on my mood. sometimes I don't feel like having music injected directly into my skull, so I use the iPod buds. I think they work fine, but then again I'm not too picky.

sucks that they blew, but as said before, the sound quality of the earbuds suck anyway. all ipods have the unfortunate habit of oversteering the treble a little and the earbuds are doing this as well, so together they make a horrible sound-experience.
best for ipods are some nice in-ears that produce a little bass since the ipod itself does not produce a lot of bass AND it softens the treble a little.

I'd take 'em back - I read somewhere that Apple will replace them a couple times under warranty if they were damaged not due to your own fault...
Blown out? Geez... I can't even turn mine past 50% without getting a headache...

I can't believe it either, Derek. He must have been listening to an all-bass band on full volume...

What headphones do you guys recommend? The apple ones are full of treble, as well some phillips i picked up. Some recommendations of "clip on" ones would be great. The buds fall out my ear and the ones with a head thing are too much

I use Skull Candy around the ear headphones. They have really good sound and they look pretty darn cool in my opinion.

I use the apple defaults and skull candy in-ear headphones, which create a suction, so they don't fall out, lol. I use Skull Candy "Smokin' Buds Ink'D"

I've blown 6-8 pairs of ipod buds with various ipods over the years, they never last longer than 1 month and a half. As long as your under warranty there's a form on the apple site that you can request repairs or replacement parts and they will send you a new pair of the buds if you fill it out. I've probably done it 4 or 5 times.
ipod buds aren't worth crap though, spend a little money and get some that will last and sound better.

The left earbud on my mini blew at some point. I contacted Apple through their web site, and they sent me a new pair. I'd imagine the Apple store would do the same thing. I've got a 3G nano now, and I've bought better earphones. I have Sennheiser CX300s (which are on their way back to Sennheiser right now, as the left ear phone blew--I'm really careful with these things, and I listen at a very soft level to protect me ears. I must have bad left ear karma!) and V-Moda Vibes. MUCH better than the stick buds. During the time between the Senns blowing and the Vibes arriving, the sound of the Apple stocks was making me nuts--and I'm not an audiohile by any means.

If you want a clip, you should try looking at the Sony mdr-ex81's. http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/sony-mdr-ex81-earphones-ipod/
Shure's have a wire that they recommend you put over your ear to provide the best isolation, comfort, and the least amount of microphonics. It's not the same as a clip, but it's just as nice. However, those are in-ears and the lowest in the SE line is $99 usd. I currently own the SE210's in black and they're pretty nice. Just enough isolation for listening to music and durable wires. Just as a comparison, the wire for each earphone in the SE210 is about the same thickness as the wire for the plug for the mdr ex 51's and 71's, while the extension cord for the Shure's is even thicker than that. The wire for the earphones on the sony's is really thin and prone to breaking as they did for my old pair of 71's. Just keep that in mind if you purchase the 81's. They require a lot of attention and care to ensure the longest life span.
