Partial Albums

I've been using the Music Store and have come across a number of partial albums. Does anyone know why Apple has partial albums? Seems kinda werid. Maybe it's space limitations? I wanted to get a Blue Oyster Cult album and when I went to look it there was only one song...

I was a little miffed by the partial albums thing as well. I don't know if/when they'll change that though...

Try this one on for size. Upon searching for my fav band Third Eye Blind. Their first album is listed as a partial album. Only one song is not on the list, which is Jumper. So that makes it a partial album? Strange! Figure that one out.

hmm yea they should change that, hmm maybe its record label restrictions.

Some of it is definitely Artist and/or record company restrictions--for example, I read the Eagle's purposely left off the title track to "Hotel California"...

I think the artists and record companies are not entirely sold on this yet, and are taking a wait and see (and profit) approach to this--but hopefully in the future this things will become nonissues, especially now that there are plans for at least 2 large windows friendly music stores in the works scheduled to open before the end of this year...

I really hate the partial albums concept. I ordered a CD today rather than Dload a partial.

the store is still an experiement. Once the artists and record companies start receiving their checks from apple, we should start to see more music released. As usual, once the money is shown, people tend to become a little more agreeable.

I have noted another variation on this "partial album" issue. In a few places I have seen songs that you cannot dload seperate from the album that require the purrchase of the entire album.

A very bad idea IMHO, stop these restrictions!!!!!!

I read this forum a lot to try to avoid asking redundant questions, but I missed this unless you are talking about MicroSoft or Amazon. Are they for sure? I can't wait for a Win Music Store, I'm getting tired of scrounging for CD's on half.com (although it's a great deal) Thanks...

Partial albums are due to copyright issues.

Tom's Band may record a song, but Joe Schmoe wrote it...and if Joe doesn't give his blessing, then the song is limited to its initial release. That happens a lot with albums with many writers, or with various performers.
