View Full Version : headphone recommendations...
hey guys...
I'm looking to get some new earphones for my ipod 5g and would really appreciate some help...
I'm looking for something similar in design to the senn's PMX200, however have read that these headphones are really bad...
I'm looking for some with a neck band, not in ear/buds ones as they really hurt...
What would you guys recommend ??
Cheers

the best neck band headphones i know is the igrado's. Miss them at your peril!
P.S. i always liked my PX200's, but the igrado's are better

Assuming you're looking for closed-design neckbands, there really isn't any other viable option than the PMX200. I'd suggest looking at the over-head PX200 and the AKG K414 and 416P, or if it's a hairstyle issue, then a pair of closed-design earbuds like Sennheiser's CX300, the around-neck lanyard-ed CXL400 or the higher-end CX500.
thanks for the info, its really appreciated !!
I don't mind closed or open, however used the PMX200 as a nice loooking, neck band, not too big, mobile solution.... unfortunately i hear they sounds pants !!
the igrado's look good, unfortunately, i'm in the UK so will need to see if i can source a pair locally...
Keep the advice coming !!
Cheers

why do you need to source them locally? this is the new millennium, and internet buying is perfectly fine. i got my iGrado's from www.iheadphones.co.uk they offer great service, dare i say better than some of the shops i've brought from!

I have seen iGrados for sale in London, so they are about. Also check out the PMX100s, which avoid all the faults of the PMX200s.
thanks guys much appreciated...

yep, I've often bought stuff from other countries, however have, 80% of the time been caught out with customs and had to pay excise duty on stuff....
then there's the delivery company is used by the supplier, twice now I've had to pay a handling fee of $30 per shipment (1 small package)...
On one occasion, i bought a kite surfing helemt from Australia, for $80 USD, and it cost me $50 to get it into the country and to my door !!
sometimes, its just easier....

The iGrados are available for sale in various places on Tottenham Court Road in London. Thats where I bought mine...
Your choices basically are:
Various Sony models (MDRG74SL are OK)
Senn PMX200 (only acceptable if you get a good seal, which most people don't)
Senn PMX100 (excellent for their price)
iGrado (need modifying by cutting the covers over the drivers to get good sound - some people like these, many, including me, remain underwhelmed by them)
