Hey guys,

Signed up here out of desperation, and I do vaguely recall having an account back in the old 2nd gen iPod days :p Seems it got pruned heh!

Nevertheless, I'm back and I have an iPhone and a problem. I am very very fussy over my music collection and nothing hits iTunes unless it's been tagged properly and henceforth never makes it on my iPod. But I do have a folder with unorganized/untagged music in, and it's this music that I want to put on my iPhone. However, I don't want to put it in iTunes else it'll mess up my nice clean main library and also make it on to my iPod.

So my question is, how can I have two libraries. One for my iPod, and one for my iPhone, on the same computer :)

(As a sidenote, someone mentioned swaptunes to me but a) I couldn't find a download link, b) I've heard it's very buggy and c) From what I read it seems as if it's for people with two computers)

Thanks,
- Dean

Dean C, what I would do is create an "iphone" or similar playlist for the untagged music you want on the iphone. Since you can only sync to the iphone with a playlist anyways, it makes sense that you would just want to drag and drop those untagged tunes to the iphone playlist.

Thanks for the reply deftdrummer1, but I figured out a better solution :) I'd read that if you pressed shifted while launching iTunes you can utilise multiple libraries, but I was holding down shift while clicking the shortcut and nothing would happen. What you have to do is launch iTunes as normal, and as soon as you've double clicked the icon, then hold down shift and it'll let you create a new or choose an existing library :)

oh wow, didn't know that. So what is the benefit of having two libraries? If you have two devices?

Yep, that's exactly what i'm using it for. Don't mind having untagged music on my iPhone as it's tiny in comparison to my 40gb iPod (where things need to be organized to find it).
