will iPhone bought in Canada work in Europe?

yep, im quite sure that uve heard this question million times already, but gotta play safe here. i got a cousin coming from canada in february and she asked me if i wanted iphone. she cant tell me if it will work here, so i need to know. thankies:confused: :confused:
