Deleting Songs

Ya, I was just wondering if there was a way you could delete songs off your iphone or off your itunes for your iphone. What happens is that I have to copies of the same song and when I want to delete one I have to restore the whole iphone (deleting everything on the ipod). Once this is done I can manage ALL the songs in my library and then downloading them all back onto my iphone. Does anyone how to just delete one song at a time?

ok, let say for example, I have two of the same songs on my iphone. Is there anyway that I can delete one song off my iphone (from my iphone) without having to wipe out all the songs on it and restoring it from the itunes library.

How are you managing your iTunes library?

Normally, the iPhone will check the items that are to be synced with the items on the iPhone - if they are already on the iPhone it should not delete anything but only add the new files.

Try this...
If you can see both files in iTunes - remove one and try syncing. If the iPhone attempts to restore cancel it.

Now (someone mite need to correct me here). If it is the case above, try 'unticking' the song. Then sync...see if it removes it without restoring the iPhone.

I'd like to tag a question onto this. I'm also having trouble deleting songs.

1- I go into iTunes to delete the Clay Aiken collection that I don't want anyone to know about.
2- Connect the iPhone, then iTunes asks if I want to transfer purchases.
3- If I say yes, Clay Aiken is back.

I know there is a way to delete these songs for good but I can't figure it out.

I'd rather not disable Transfer Purchases all together, I do buy songs from my iphone.

YOU CANNOT DELETE SONGS INDIVIDUALLY OFF THE IPHONE. You can only remove them from the playlist that is associated with syncing to iphone
