Ok first off i havn't got my touch yet im geting it for christmas its the 16GB
Do i actualy need a Itunes Account ?
Is it possible for me to get a DVD and put it on my Ipod & How ?
How many Songs is the 16GB 3.5k Or 4k ?
Is Jailbreacking 100% Safe ?
Can i hide the installer icon that you get when you install jailbreack (I only know this from youtube) ?
Does The Back Scratch Easy ? (NOT THE SCREEN)
How Many hours usage is it with Wifi On ?
Does Brightness at full make much of a difference that brightness at 25% (how many hours/Mins) ?
Are you happy with your purchase ?
Since you got it have you done anything with it that you would advise me not to do ?
How long would it take to charge (from a wall charger) to get from empty to full batery
New Question : If i jailbroker my Ipod what programs would you recomend me put on it ?
Thank you No need for ye to anser all the questions just ones you can help me with :D
Note : Iv purchased 3 Touch Cases on ebay and i will review all of them ,
1 - Blue aluminum Case with interior silcon padding and a screen protector it gets stuck to the screen using static or something i dont know realy :P basicly you dont need glues to stick it :P
2 - a 100% pure silcon cover case :P no screen protector
3 - A "Crystal clear polycarbonate case providing unmatched shock and surface protection" with no screen protector :(
Ill probley use the screen protector of the first one with the third ones case :p

1. well i think you only need an itunes account if you're gonna buy songs etc. from the itunes store (if wrong somebody correct me haha)
2. yeahh you can get a DVD on your ipod but first youv got to convert it into mpeg4 format using any DVD to iPod converter/ripper, then you can put this in the videos bit in itunes and put it on ur ipod! :)
3. i dont hav a 16gb, but im pretty sure it can hold a lot haha
4. no i really dont think jailbreaking is 100% safe... i think it can break your warrantly, but if something goes wrong you can easily restore it to its original settings and apple cant find out youve jailbroken it.
5. well the back on my ipod scratches WAYY too much... in the first two days it got hundreds of scratches, even though it was in my pocket with absolutely nothing inside!
6. if you keep the wifi on for the whole day... it pretty much wastes your battery :P i left mine on by accident from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm and the battery was only 10% left :S i think its about 3 hours usage
7. yes im definately happy with my purchase :D i love the fact that you can download songs off the itunes store on the ipod :D
8. DONT LEAVE WIFI ON... GET A CASE FOR IT... DONT DROP IT :P
9. i think it takes about 4 hours for complete charge
hopefully these will answer your questionds :D

Iv orderd 3 differnt ipod touch cases from Ebay (ill probely review them) one looked awesome it has a blue aluminium exterier case with a paded interior (silicon) and a cover for the screen , Should get around friday or by next wednday :D that should protect it i was looking at the back of a freinds 80GB Clasic and it looks like some one tryed to polish it with emery paper and did a very poor job ending up leaving thousands of scratchs :P it doesnt look to bad but id rather mine not get like that .

1. You do not need to sign up for an iTunes account, but you do need iTunes to use the Touch.
2. Yes it's possible to put the contents of a DVD on your iPod. Search is your friend.
3. The number of songs on a 16GB varies depending on length of song and bitrate it is encoded to as well as if they're AAC or MP3.
4. Jailbreaking won't screw up your Touch permanently. It can be undone at ANY time suffering no ill effects caused by the jailbreaking process merely by restoring your iPod via iTunes.
5. You can hide it with the Customize application. You can hide any icons in fact.
6. Yes, but they're light scratches that can be worked with. I've heard of several products that will help with this, Brasso not being the least of them.
7. With wifi on, it depends on if it's actively being used or not. I leave mine on most of the time, even though I shouldn't, but I'm rarely using it. The real battery drain is more than likely the rendering of web pages.
8. It can be significant if watching a movie or something similar where the screen is on a lot.
9. Yup.
10. Don't kill kittens with your Touch.
11. Mine charges in just over an hour I think. Never really timed it.

1. You do not need to sign up for an iTunes account, but you do need iTunes to use the Touch.
Basicly i need the program Itunes (the second newest version i belive) to sync it but i dont need the have a Itunes account the one you need to provide billing details for :( main reason i dont have one is im only 14 and dont own a credit card and they dont accept paypal Grrr

Actually, I believe in iTunes you can go through the setup for a new account, and for payment type just put "none"... then you can download the album art, etc.

Ummm why do people continue to act like jail breaking is 100% Safe..if I recall a couple of months ago Apple bricked SEVERAL modified iPhones with firmware updates..the same thing can potentially happen with the iPod Touch.
I think "jailbreaking" the iPod Touch is completely foolish because in about a month apple is opening the 3rd party market..why void your warranty by jailbreaking it when its going to be officially done by apple in feb. 2008?

because it is 99.999% save for the touch since you can always restore it. Noone knows if that dev kit by apple will open the market for 3rd party apps. And you dont void your warranty since you can just restore it before sending it back.
I'm really glad I jailbroke and i think it's foolish not to jailbreak it. If you don't wanna do it, fine, but in my opinion everyone should because it makes the ipod so much more.

uf, tough. I personally like summerboard + customize very much. It allows you to customize your home-screen. The iphone apps are really sweet, I installed mail (mail program) and maps (google maps app) but there are also whether, stocks and notes. Apache webserver is really nice since it allows you to watch pdf/doc/xls files. there are some system-related apps like mobilefinder (allows you to browse the ipods hard drive), text-editing app, stuff like that. There are many more but you just have to look through the list yourself and decide what you need.
a lot of the apps are listed here:

not so far, sorry. I think this would require a completly new browser. maybe we'll see something like that in the future, maybe with apple's dev kit in feb., but not right now.

I'm using a (windows) program just called "Free iPod Video Converter" (just search google for it). It works really great for me, though I'm not 100% sure if it can convert DVDs. But it works absolutly fine for avi/mpeg files.

Note to Mr. Paranoid above - it was the iPhones that were getting bricked and that was because they were hacking the underlying firmware for use with different SIM cards for different wireless providers. The iPod Touch jailbreak does not hack the system in the same way and is safe. I've been on the various iPod Touch boards and I have yet to see a SINGLE person who was unable to restore their iPod Touch fully if they ever ran into any issues. I remember seeing that jailbreakme.com - which was used for many of the jailbreaks - has had over 2 million visitors... I'm thinking that qualifies as safe :)
In terms of conversion, there are a lot of people that swear by Videora. There's also another program called SUPER which I've used and which works well...
And to clarify BlackWolf's comment, no there is no integration of Flash & Java currently. Someone is trying to port Java, but since Flash is closed source, only Adobe could really port Flash to the iPod Touch. Of course it'd probably destroy your battery life... Let's keep our fingers crossed...

I actually saw this posted on another board this morning - it's how to get a free iTunes account without credit card - http://www.winandmac.com/tips/free-itunes-account-no-matter-where-you-live/
Nothing illegal - it just lets you get to the selection screen where you can set your credit card to none.
