Hi

I want to import an ipod mini to Europe (Norway). Do I have to buy anything extra to make it work in Europe? Like a converter which converts the "Us power" til "Euro power" Or is the power supply universal?

Any hints?

Thank you.

Well I ordered mine at ebay but your Q is good! How about a converter? We in Europe have 220V and in USA is 110V! Does anyone has an idea? Cause I don`t want my iPOD to burn out or to destroy if I charge it here!!!!

Hey, you can use it in Europe, but you have to get a power adaptor kit. I think apple sells one in its classy white casing. Here is a link. It is 39 US dollars. World Travel Pack (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/70707/wo/DM28G1tWyfmC2KUsTpTI78kGD5I/1.3.0.5.10.3.12.13.0)

Hope that helps.

You could buy the world power kit but you can also use a telefunken plug - a standard plug connector from any other electronic device you have.

btw the voltage question is answered here at the bottom right of the page:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html

There is noting to adjust, plug, charge and play :)

Thank you. Great.

Another question: If I buy the ipod in the US, do I have a warranty in Europe. Something like a world wide apple warranty? Or do I have an expensive case if the ipod fails?

I guess it's the same for the mini as for the original. 100-240 but don't know.

Register our ipod minis from the Usa? Register? where? why?

Well at apple in your country you just register the serial number of your iPOD mini

So I can buy a mini when I'm in the states, and then register it here to get my warranty? or is ut just a way to tell where the ipods are located?

People, the ipod warranty is global, and by registering your ipod via internet when you get it, you can make sure Apple knows when it was purchased. You can also purchase extra warranty from Apple, I believe. See their homepage for more details.

As I said before, please don't worry about the voltage. Our US ipods worked out the box with a EU plug into the apple white charger.

I'm thinking of importing one, but how much will it cost to import, and also do they charge importing tax?

No tax, but customs, which depends on the price that is declared on the packet.

Even when marked as gift the value has to be indicated, thus you're better off expecting to pay customs.

Great! but:
Are you sure? Can you link to the apple site where this information is?
-Can't find it.. The only information I can find is "one year limited warranty"

http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore/?family=AppleCare

this outlines the extended care you can get on your ipod in the uk extending the 1 year limited warranty to two.

I presume its the same whatever location in europe/rest of the world

The warrenty is global. Wherever there's an Apple Dealer in the world, they'll fix it. Makes sense, no? Apple wants people to take their products with them when they fly to other countries--listen to the iPod on a flight, or use it to record a business meeting in Europe. It'd undercut the selling power of Apple if you couldn't get that product repaired in another country. If I fly to Japan, and my Mini breaks, I want to know I can go into the Apple store in Japan and get it fixed under the warrenty--not be told I need a warrenty in Japan.

So, yes, it's global. Doesn't matter where you bought it or where you use it.

Sorry no. The stores won't sell to you. But you can try a few "iffy" places--there was someone on Amazon.UK selling a couple of Mini's and there might be a few on ebay--but buyer beware. And, of course, there's this fellow:
