iPod touch video out

hi,
I was just wondering: I had an ipod classic before and everyone was really upset that it only worked with apple accessories and that you can't watch your movies on a tv if you don't buy a $50 tv cable from apple.

is the touch the same way? or can you use the headphone jack as a tv out like on the video ipod?
