make sure your tv shows are encoded in 320*240 resolution. also, you can use pretty bad audio/video quality, you won't notice it on the ipod touch anyway. just play around with it a litte.
I'm using the ipod video converter and my episodes are around 80MB in size. this would result in 50 episodes (~2 seasons) when you have 4GB space left.
anything below that will result in a significant quality loss, so if you want more episodes on your touch you'll have to get the 16GB version.
Seriously, if you are using your ipod to watch videos mainly, the touch is just the wrong choice, you should have gone with a hard-drive based iPod.

What?!
iPod Touch has a much better screen for video than hard-drive based iPods. I know what you mean with regards to the capacity, but I still think you can get more than enough video on even an 8GB Touch to justify it being a portable video player.
I certainly wouldn't bother (and indeed, didn't on my 30GB iPod) watching more than a 5-minute music video on a smaller iPod screen.

well, maybe you're right. but if you really want to watch videos I wouldn't go for an ipod anyway. archos makes very very nice video player devices, maybe you want to check them out.
I just meant that you can't really fit much videos on the touch, the screen is of course very nice to watch videos on.
