I have bought an iPod Touch for a present, and when I have plugged it into the computer it told me that I don't have the system requirements... We have XP home on the computer... so I downloaded all updates including SP2 & SP3 and it still told me that I need SP2 or later installed... What do I do?

I'm not trying to be picky, so it may just be semantics, but *downloading* SP2 and SP3 is different from *installing* SP2 and SP3. I apologize if you meant to say you had them installed. But this'd be a good place to start. After downloading the updates from Microsoft, make sure they're installed.
If you've already got them installed, then I'd try the Microsoft approach to just about every problem: reboot your system, and then try re-installing SP3 to see if that works...
I've got XP also (SP2), but I can't say that I've had that problem. Good luck.

Are you sure the system requirements that iTunes is complaining about is the operating system version? Could it be the USB ports or something else?
Also, I'm guessing you're not using XP 64-bit, correct?

1. Make sure your computer has at least 256MB of RAM.
2. Make sure the processor speed if at 1.6GHz or above (for Pentium 4) or 1GHz and above (for Pentium M).
3. Don't use the 64-bit version of Windows XP. If you do then you will have to run VMWare or something similar.
4. Make sure your video card is more than capable of running iTunes (at least 64MB of memory, either dedicated or shared).
I didn't think that SP3 was released yet in final form to the public. I just checked online and it isn't available from Microsoft yet. Do you have a beta, RC1, or "other" copy of SP3? If you have a "other" copy of SP3 then that can explain the issues in that the copy is locking out some access to your computer. Beta and RC1 copies of SP3 still aren't representative of the final versions so there could be some errors there. Downgrade back to SP2 but use legal methods, don't download a "other" copy of it. Use Microsoft's official installation procedures.
One thing I forgot about is that if you actually have a final version of SP3 installed, you could very well be running Windows 2000 which is not supported by iTunes anymore.

I'd guess you don't have windows XP but windows 2000, because there is no SP3 for windows XP.
if so you ipod will never work, since you need iTunes 7.5 which only works with windows XP and vista.
if you have a mysterious SP3 for XP uninstall it.

Actually, there is. It's still a release candidate and the official build won't be available until 1H 2008, but it's still publicly available. Link (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=75ed934c-8423-4386-ad98-36b124a720aa&DisplayLang=en)

That is what I am guessing. They either have an official RC copy (which still isn't representative of the final build and can contain bugs), an illegally downloaded copy, or they are running Windows 2000. I wish the OP would post back though with what OS they are really running. That would help narrow down the problem.
