whilst browsing the web and listening to music, the music just stops palying intermittently, the only answer is to switch to the music player (which is a blank screen) tap the screen and then it switches back to the artist list...

it's a real PIA as I could be half way through an album and then just "loose" my place and have to start again...

playing music on its own is no problem, as is browsing the web (again on its own) is no problem....

am I alone? should I be getting a new 'touch' under warranty?

please advise.

This has been reported quite often. It seems to be a bit of a bug, probably due to the Touch's memory and processor getting overloaded when browsing particularly 'heavy' sites.

It is rather annoying and I hope it could be fixed in an update but I don't hold out much hope.

yeah it's most likely because of memory overload. it happens if you listen to music and use other apps that use "lots" of memory too.

seems as if the music player takes up much memory and if another app does the same the music player crashes.

right now theres nothing you can do about it unfortunatly.

It also seems to depend on the websites you're using. I can surf these forums all day without my music stopping but go to MSNBC and I dies most of the time.

Yeah I've noticed it being a particular problem when loading sites with a lot of pictures, such as Flickr.

well, that actually confirms the memory-theory. if a site is loading, all content of that site has to be downloaded on the iPod. for quicker scrolling/using the website it is loaded into the main memory rather than the flesh memory. lots of pictures/huge websites cause a memory overflow which causes the application with the lowest priority to get killed ... and this is the music player.

these are just my thoughts on this, but I think that could be the reason why this occurs. but now the really important question is: how does this help the people who are using the iPod? seems like we can just hope that apple gets rid of the problem.

Well, I think everyone wants this fixed, but we should make sure Apple knows as well... If you haven't already, go file a bug report with Apple... http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html

Thank God I'm not the only one with this problem.
