See this thread (http://forums.iLounge.com/showthread.php?t=211084&highlight=video+converter) for programs, Handbrake is free and will convert directly from the DVD to MP4. I'm not aware of any free sites to download movies but you can buy them on Itunes.

There is only a couple of free legal sites to download movies from but all they have up to offer are those old movies whose copyrights have expired. We cannot tell you any place to legally download full length motion picture movies other than iTunes as downloading movies for free is illegal (unless their copyrights are expired).

You wait until you can get one if you want to follow the letter of the law.

You ask for gift cards, buy gift cards, etc from brick and morter stores where you can pay cash.

Then you go and pay cash in normal retail stores like the rest of us. The law doesn't care about your current financial situations. Downloading movies is illegal no matter what. If you can't afford them then don't get them. Your life won't end if you can't get Spider-Man 3 for free off the internet. If it is going to end then getting movies for free should be the least of your concerns.

Its a good thing I live in Canada. I can basically do whatever I want on the internet without the government knowing :)

If you want to suggestions on where to download movies illegally this site is not the place to ask. The mods won't allow it. But for anyone under the age of 50 it is trivial how easy it is to figure out.

Well, not technically. See this is a U.S. website so we still can't tell you anything. Canadian law is a bit different than U.S. in that you can download anything you want off the internet, you just can't post anything on the internet. Many (99% of them) of these sharing applications (whether they be P2P or other) work in that you download the file. While you are downloading the file, it will share what little you have downloaded. This is illegal in Canada as it is considered uploading the content. You can only download, no uploading. Most of these services won't let you download anything unless you are uploading. They will often let you download at twice your upload speed. Hence, we can't really advise you on downloading movies even if this was a Canadian site.

Google is your friend though and it is pretty easy to get things up and going.

Keep dreaming. If you think there aren't any number of people and government agencies out there that know exactly what you're doing on the Internet you're fooling yourself. I would even say that specifically because you live in Canada the spooks in the US are watching you like a hawk.

Why do you think the TV Writers Guild went on strike? Because they know you Canadians are stealing their stuff.
