CP says iPod full, but it's empty?

I can't download songs onto my iPod cause it thinks it's full. I bought it from my sister and deleted her songs, and tried to add my own. I'm sure I screwed it up, I just would like some help please. I looked through the forum for this topic but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance for the advice, or at least a link to the appropriate thread.

I suggest trying to do a restore in iTunes if you haven't already.

Connect the iPod, select it and click restore from the summary tab.

Done. Thanks. You'd think that would have been obvious. My sister didn't know what to do either. I guess since she has a PhD in pharmacuetical engineering I freaked out when she couldn't fix it. Book smart, lab smart...not iPod smart...yet. Thanks again.
