Apps on 8GB

yes most apps are very small...only a few mb a piece
i have im, lights off, sudoku, iflix, nes with games mail, notes, weather, and maps and the difference is barely noticeable

Many applications for the iPod touch only take up a few MB a piece so you shouldn't really worry about that. Look at the 8GB and see if it will limit you too much in the content that you can store on there like music and video. 8GB will be more than enough to hold plenty of jailbreak applications, it just might not be enough to hold your media.

Just a note of clarification - on both the 8GB and the 16GB iPod Touch, there is an operating system/applications "partition" (for lack of a better word) that's limited to 300MB, including the operating system. There is, however, a trick that moves your applications to the second "partition" (where the music and videos are stored) so in effect you could fill the entire iPod Touch with applications.

And although the applications don't take much space, those darn GBA ROMs take a TON (like 15-20MB each)...

Yes but one wouldn't be doing something illegal like downloading NES, SNES, and GBA ROMs now would they?
