Same artist appears twice

Hi there. Apologies if this has been done before, but heres my q. In the Artists folder on my ipod, a dozen or so of my er ... artists appear twice, spelt the same and containing the same music. Why is this and how can I get rid of this?

Check the id tags of your mp3s.

make sure there are no spaces at the end of the artist name. An easy way to fix this is select all songs by the same artist and select get info. Type in the correct name. This will make sure the artist is the same in every tag.
