How to fromat mac ipod to windows

My 3rd gen 30gig ipod was initially setup for me as a mac drive by a friend. I have now bought a firewire for my win2000 pc and want to reformat the ipod as a windows drive. I have read that
this may void any warranties. Is this true and is there a definitive way of reformatting my ipod?

Nah, it won't void any warrenties as now all iPods are supported both ways.

What you need to do is get the 2.1 windows updater from the apple website for windows iPods. You may also need to reformat the iPod to windows drive before applying the windows updater as windows computers can't read mac formated drives.
