the video file I am trying to upload is 1.6 gig ... about half way through it just says my Ipod cannot be read from or written to. I have 10 gig left so it wouldn't be the amount of space that is a problem... Can someone help me?

My 4G does that because when it's syncing it runs off the battery, not the power plugged into the computer, and it would die while syncing large files. I'm not sure if the Touches do this the same way though.

break the file into smaller pieces or reencode it to a more managable size. 1.6 gig is a huge movie in terms of the touch.

So maybe fully charge the ipod first?

I am gonna guess this is encoded to H2.x coding? Try to reconvert to MPEG4, if it's a typical 2 hour+ movie should be able to shrink it down to around 600meg in MPEG4.
I don't know why I won't take the 1.6gigs though, I have done a few movies that size and just takes longer, never an issue with the sync.

Remove the movie from iTunes and readd it to iTunes.
It may have corrupted when it was first added to iTunes. I had this problem with a movie a while back. Removing it from iTunes and readding it, then syncing fixed the issue.
If it doesn't, try to play the movie in iTunes and see if you come to any problems in the file. It may need to re rencoded as some here suggest.
