So when do you turn your iPod Touch off?

When do you put it in sleep mode?

I am getting the vibe that its actually better to leave the iPod touch on sleep mode (wi-fi off of course) instead of turning it off to conserve battery. True or false?

false.
its more wise to turn it off.
if you make it sleep with wifi on, thats ######ed.
but off is more battery conservation.

Truth be told leaving it in the sleep mode has the same effect as turning it off. I have tried both ways and got the same results. Just make sure you turn wifi off when you aren't using it.

Actually, you're wrong on both counts.

When you have to turn on the iPod Touch from being completely off (not in sleep), it drains a HUGE amount of battery power during it's startup routine. I leave mine in sleep all the time with no ill effects and no noticeable battery drain.

Second, it is totally incorrect that sleep with Wi-Fi drains the battery. The iPod Touch automatically TURNS OFF the Wi-Fi within 30 seconds of being put to sleep. Now if you're going sleep/wake sleep/wake a lot, yeah that's going to drain the battery. But if you're putting it to sleep overnight, it's just fine.

If you don't believe me, just use ping to see when your iPod Touch stops responding. It'll automatically turn Wi-Fi off. Apple's not that stupid :)

So is it better to always leave it in sleep and never turn it off? If it use it everyday, that is.

Can I just put it on sleep always, and only turn it off when im not gonna use it for like a week or something? Or is it good to turn it off every night before I go to bed? Because otherwise, i'll just leave it on sleep and plugged in to charge every night while i sleep.

With other iPods, if it sleeps for a length of time, it'll turn off by itself. I believe it's 12 hours.

I don't believe the iPod Touch automatically turns itself off. Of course I've not gone more than a nights sleep without using it :)

I usually just sleep it at night while it's plugged in, but every couple days I actually turn it off.

To turn it off, you hold the top sleep button until you see a red slider that says "Slide to power off"

to turn off your iPod Touch you simply hold down the top button until the screen prompts you with the power off option... slide your finger across the bar like you would to bring it back from sleep mode.

its all pretty self explanatory if you get the first part right. :P

I think the only real advantage of turning it off at all would be for the purpose of prolonging the battery life. Sleep still cycles the battery, but my theory is off would halt or slow down the cycle even further than sleep ever could. I think the best bet would be to leave it on sleep all day until you go to bed, then turn it off..
