A couple of questions...

1) Does my iPod touch have to be on in order for it to charge? I turned it off and plugged it in, but it turned itself on. Can I turn it back off after I plug it in?

2) Does turning off my iPod close all "background apps" that are on?

3) Is turning off iPod touch bad for it or something? I turned my iPod touch off, and the battery suddenly dropped by like 75%. Whats up?

4) Do you actually turn off your iPod touch when you dont use it? Or just put it on sleep mode? Does sleep mode drain battery a lot?

Thanks for your help!

if your battery dropped that much I suspect you had you wifi turned on. I very rarely turn my touch off. I generally just put it to sleep at night. The battery never drains the way your has. Make sure you turn off wifi and that you don't have a long list of songs playing when you put it to sleep at night.

Actually, dvdqnoc that's not horribly unusual - the start up routine seems to drain a LOT of the battery. There's really no reason to leave it off entirely unless you're not planning on using it for a long period of time (e.g., overnight or longer). Sleep works just fine and doesn't drain the battery - plus it doesn't suck all the battery during the start up.

However, if you are truly getting poor battery performance, you should talk to Apple. For more information on battery life for the iPods, you can also visit this webpage at Apple - http://www.apple.com/batteries/
