1. No, it doesn't play the games that you can currently buy through iTunes. However, you can jailbreak your iPod Touch and add emulators for NES and GBA which will give you plenty of games to play, plus several people are designing games specifically for the iPod Touch.

2. Depends on you - some people don't think 80GB are enough... I've got a 16GB and I love it -- holds over 2000 songs + 5 movies and I still have 1GB free.

3. Yes, very very nice. Takes a little getting use to navigating by hand, but it works really well. No Flash or Java, however, so that does limit some of the sites you can use.

4. Not sure if they sell them at the Apple stores - should be able to buy online quickly though.

5. Jailbreak allows you to add a TON of new things to your iPod Touch. In addition to all the iPhone apps (Mail, Weather, Stocks, Maps, etc.), there is a thriving developer community creating new software all the time. The NES and GBA emulators are very well done. I use VNsea which allows me to remotely control all my computers which is great. There's an EBook reader. And lots more... Space wise, it doesn't take much - I think I heard like 15MB or so. And the applications are all pretty small - usually less than 1MB. However, the GBA ROMs (if you install them) can eat up space quickly - 5-20MB each...

6. Again, the browser is nice.

7. Sure is smudges some. I got an Invisible Shield for mine, however, so I just wipe it on my sleeve or jacket.

8. Perks? Well, I can pull out my iPod Touch at my dentist, connect to the free Wi-Fi at the Qdoba next door, check my email and connect to my home computer to see what's going on. And then tuck it back in my pocket. Plus all the videos (the screen is gorgeous) and audio that I could listen to in a week. It's just the kind of portable everything device I was looking for...

9. What can you do? Well, a lot really - jailbreaking allows you to add any of a ton of different applications. Some people have gone so far as to install web SERVERS on their iPod Touches so they can remotely do development work. It's really amazing how many different uses people have found.

Best of luck on your purchase!

I have an Archos 605 and 16GB Touch. I like the video better on the Archos, but I love the Touch. After Jailbreaking it, even moreso. The only downside is price.

I will probably dump my windows mobile Treo for an Iphone once they increase them to 16GB.

I got an iSkin evo4 Duo for my iPod Classic at the Apple Store this week. Since iSkin just released their cases for the Touch they should be on the Apple Store shelves within a few weeks, but they likely won't carry the full range of colours.
