Is there any way to transfer individual songs onto my ipod without it automatically syncing all the songs from my library? I tried dragging the song onto my ipod device, but it didnt work. Help?

Yes, when you hook up your Ipod to Itunes, there is are a few options (3) on the bottom of the screen. CHECK the "Manually Manage...." Then you can drag items on and off your Ipod. One note you will have to manually "Eject" your ipod via the round eject button or thru the menu on top fo the screen.
If none of that made sense, just open Itunes, click Help, type in manually manage Ipod, it will take you to the apple website and a page on how to do it.

Manually managing the iPod works however playcounts and ratings don't make it back to iTunes. You may want to consider setting it in the Music tab to sync to a selected playlist or two. You will then add and remove the songs to that playlist to manage them on the iPod. Playcounts and ratings will then be synced back to iTunes as well as changes to the song information will sync back to the iPod when changed in iTunes. Once you have rated and accumulated some playcounts you could also consider building smart playlists to help maintain the music on the touch.
