You have Apple/iPod? You like it? You want it? GOD HELP YOU IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!!!!! I once thought that they have the best technology, best support and altogether best products. I was WRONG! Let me explain: Only a week after brand new iPod Touch was released on market, I had to visit USA (I am from Europe) for business purposes. Knowing the current price situation in Europe, I decided to buy the most expensive version of iPod Touch 16Gb + universal Apple AC adapter. Since this was a business trip, the time was short. I couldn’t make a complete check. Besides, I believed in Apple tech. As soon as I arrived home and started using it, I noticed something was wrong with the screen. It has defective (dead) pixels (dots)! And not one but eight! EIGHT PIXELS ARE OUT OF ORDER ON APARATUS THAT COSTS 400 BUCKS!!! HELLO!!! Something smells here and I know what it is! I pulled myself together from this shock, still confident in Apple and their technical support. I wrote a quick e-mail to the shop where I purchased my iPod (Palo Alto/CF/USA), waited for 3 days without an answer! Then I decided to fill out an official feedback letter found on main website hoping at lest to get some answers. You can guess by my tone that I HAVEN’T GOT A SINGLE WORD FROM APPLE 3 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IPOD!!! Correction: I got an answer from iTunes (I contacted them cause I was desperate) but just to be redirected to a FAQ page(?). What is the meaning of this? Why are they ignoring me? Is it cause I am from Europe? EXPLAIN YOURSELVE APPLE!!!

Why not just CALL apple support? Sure, you may be on hold for a while, but isn't it better to actually hear a voice and talk to someone rather than automated text?

maybe call...? That always seems to be the best method to try to contact any corporation for me...if there is an apple store near you go to the genius bar and ask them...you should be entitled to a refund since it is still under warranty. Sorry, don't know much about what to say but I hope I helped in some kind of way :s.

How about calling Apple on the telephone? They have great support. I have even got refunded $106 because an iTunes purchase wasn't perfect.

Rant over?

Submit a repair request on apple.com/uk - https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do - Apple will send you a box, you send your iPod in, if Apple decide it is defective (which obviously dead/stuck pixels above a certain number may well be) and should send you a new iPod.

I bought a 4G iPod in Boston and didn't check it until I returned home to the UK - on checking the rear case I noticed two dents in the edge which I didn't want Apple thinking were caused by me trying to open the iPod.
I got a new 4G in it's place.

I was going to say that you may have an issue with a US serial number in the UK, but apparently Bob didn't, so that eliminates that.

First of all THANKS FOR SUCH QUICK ANSWERS!!

1. I can't make a phone call. It would cost me more than iPod itself:) I forgot to say that I am from Serbia.
2. Though I'm interested in returning it in that box they send you! Could you write more about it? Who should pay shipping? I must say that shipping is also costly here...
3. On what e-mail should I write about this? As I said (and main reason I posted) they are not answering me at all!!
4. We don't have autorised local store here:o

Regards

I don't think so. Just read my post again and put yourself in my position. If you need more explanations tell me.

Try submitting a repair request through the Apple website. I'm not sure if Serbia is covered by Apple Europe (though I see no reason for it not to be).
When goods are returned under repair Apple normally has the box delivered by UPS who then pick it up/take it.
As you are in Serbia the process may well be different.

I finally got an answer from Palo Alto! I guess they saw this :) and of course they suggested a call in UK, one thing I can't do. I requested return and refund. I'll post outcome!

Maybe you shouldnt've gotten a product that might require call support if you cant afford to call call support?

if you are afraid of being broken ipod or another mac product, you'd better buy care membership card which is only available in apple store. it's $99. what you get a benefit from? if yours would broken, you don't have to wait, just go to apple store, leave it. then worry free.

The only manufacturer/user of LCDs that guarantee no dead or stuck pixels is Nintendo. It's an inherent flaw of the technology. I'm not even sure eight dead pixels would warrant a warranty repair, based on the amount of pixels in a screen. That's what, .005%?

Believe me, I'd be super upset too, but you have to understand how the technology works.

@iPoD15: it was a gift...

@CocheseUGA: do you know the exact amount of dead pixels for Apple warranty?

Nowhere in the original post is it implied that it was a gift...

Ive always found that calling a company is the fastest and easiest way to resolve a situation like yours. Maybe look into buying a calling card or something. Either way, there is nothing anyone here can do for you.
