i am getting the new ipod so im also needs to have a pci firewire card.
Does al the pci firewire card has the ability to charge the player and also can i charge the player from the card when the computer is off.
I can do so with my usb ports.

All firewire PCI cards are 6 pin and will charge your iPod.

The firewire card does have the ability to charge the player, but not while the computer is off. The computer must be on in order to charge your player from your 6-pin firewire card. However, apple does not recommend it. Charging your iPod via the firewire port can cause your iPod to overheat and unless umounted from windows the harddrive will continuously spin. I would suggest you charge the iPod from the AC Adapator it is a lot quicker.
