when using the keyboard in landscape mode the 123 button stays as just that. When in portrait mode however it changes to abc. Nit pick I know !!

I dont think it has to do with portrait vs landscape. I believe it has to do with the program that you're in. I can switch in Safari and its the same.

iPod Touch 16GB latest firmware? I'm in Safari and editing the web address.

Good point - it's the same in a text box like posting on the board here. Silly software...
