I appologize if this has been discussed before (my searching didn't reveal any relevant posts).
I just got my 3rd Generation iPOD and, while doing some non-iPOD related stuff, rebooted my notebook (running WINXP) with the iPOD still connected to the firewire port. When the computer rebooted, it immediately went into some diagnostic mode related to FAT32 file something or other. It is now running through 1000's of files correcting "Bad links in loast chain at cluster...."
It's been in this mode for about 2 hours now, with cluster numbers sequentially counting up while "correcting" the problem.
I realize my mistake may have been letting the computer rebooot with the iPOD attached (I've read somewhere this can be a problem with XP and the iPOD).
Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so, assuming my notebook isn't fried when it finally stops doing what it's doing, is there something I should know?
THanks!
