Quick question about AdBlock...

I've been using AdBlock with Firefox for so long that I've forgotten about all the ads that appear on some sites (like iLounge).

But my question is this... when you block an ad, does AdBlock just hide it from view, or does it prevent that ad from being downloaded with the rest of the page?

Not sure with how that one works, but the inbuilt content blocker on Opera just prevents it from being downloaded at all.
