Hey guys,
Has anyone else experienced their iPod's LCD screen's left and right edges reacting to (I'm guessing) static discharge as you slide your iSkin on and off the iPod? Specifically, crystals in the screen will darken for a moment along the edges of the screen as you are removing or placing the top left and right corners of the iSkin over the iPod's casing. Holler back if anyone has noticed this anomaly! I don't want to damage my screen with static jolts!

Crew,
The whole point of my post was just validation that I wasn't the only one and that maybe someone could back up my speculation as to the cause.

I 'm hypothesizing that the static created by the iSkin discharges itself, putting a slight current through the iPod's body which, in turn, causes crystals along the edge to light themselves for a moment.

My crystals stay lit for just a moment though! They DO NOT stay on permanently. I think once the charge has dissipated through the body to the LCD crystals it is spent. My screen as of now has no residual damage from this, what appears to be, just static discharge. I think if you have crystals that remain lit, well, then you really have a problem to take up with iSkin or Applecare.

iSkin states on their website about their silicone compund:

"It also has an anti-static finish that reduces dust and lint attraction."

Certainly it may reduce static but I think they're being cautious in not saying that it completely eliminates static, becuase it doesn't! Still, I feel I made the right decision in purchasing the protection that it gives my iPod.

When you pull the case off.. it squeezes the LCD and thats all... dont worry... unless the black stays there

It has nothing to do with squeezing the LCD - I noticed the same thing with my iSkin, put I also know if you rapidly wipe off your iPod with a cloth that has some static electricty (in my case a terry cloth towel) the same thing happened.

Definitely from static electricity - nothing to worry about. It has been posted on this board before, becuase I searched it out when it happened to me.

Thanks for the input Ed. It is my feeling that since the LCD screen is isolated from the actual clear window of the casing by a millimeter or so, you can't really forcibly press the actual screen without really bending the clear portion of the casing.
