Firewire connection with ipod on PC, has been a really major problem. Previously I just got my firewire port installed, which is integrated onto the Creative sound blaster ZS card. Whenever I connect the firewire to the iPod, the PC will crash and hanged.
Later that day, I tried many ways and finally realize what is actually causing all this. It was my USB2.0 PCI card which I have installed earlier on. When I plug my USB harman kardon speaker into that USB2.0 PCI card, it will crash with my iPod, and cause the PC to hang. Therefore, I decided to plug my harman kardon speaker into the USB port on my motherboard itself, and the problem is solved immediately.
There are many reasons why Firewire won't work with your ipod, yours may be different from mine. But I just like to share my own experience with you. It can be a reference to you too. Happy poding.
