View Full Version : 4 weeks later and my touch is broken

I've noticed on these forums and Apple forums that some touch users are experiencing their touch crashing when using Safari. My problems are different, the Touch simply crashes all the time. Whether it's 2 minutes into a song or if I'm very lucky, 4 minutes, the music turns off and the machine resets itself back to the main menu.

Secondly, I believe that the sound on the Touch is inferior to my old black & white Ipod. Sound on the touch sounds restrained and lacks spark whereas I enjoy listening to tunes on my old Ipod.

Has anyone in the UK taken their Touch back and asked for a full refund? I fell in love with this product when it first came out and now I think they're more of a headache then anything else

If it's crashing totally I'm sure you can take it back without a problem.

Did you Jailbreak it?

What do you mean by Jailbreak?

I'm not going to get a refund as it's more then 14 days old. Apple are so cheeky. I took it back to the Apple Store in London today and they asked me to make an appointment with a technician so I can look at in.

Are Apple the only company who can get away with this? You buy a TV or let's say a non-apple MP3 player, and you wouldn't get asked to make an appointment to get it sorted out. It's broken and it needs fixing. End of. GGgggrrr can you tell I'm mad?

Swot up on the Sale Of Goods Act -

Thanks for that Bob.

Firstly this section sprang to my attention: ""Note, however, that the right to reject goods and get a full refund only lasts for a relatively short time after which a buyer is deemed to have 'accepted' goods""

I'm guessing with Apple this is 14 days.

Secondly I was foolish enough to buy my Touch in New York on the weekend of release so The Sale of Goods Act might not come into play here. Sure Apple will repair or replace the Touch as it's within it's 12 month warranty however because it was bought in another country, UK consumer laws might not cover me.

If it's faulty then I don't think the 14 days will be a problem. My usual technique if a shop is being awkward about changing or refunding something is just to stand there and keep repeating what I want until I get it. It hasn't failed me so far!

The buying from NY may well be a problem though!

you may try to "force restore" it, sometimes that may solve the problem

Mine will do that about every 6 hours of listening. I expect it will be fixed in updates, just like the video poblem, but yours sounds different. Every 2 minutes is crazy.

EDIT: I tested what you said and realized that mine does that also, but only when I'm on safari... Hope they fix this bug!!!

Its why I like living in NZ. We have laws to protect the consumer and not big business! I took mine back last week with some stuck pixels. They didn't even look at it! Just went and got me a new one. :)
