Well, the UK launch of the iPhone is next Friday and I'll be in the queue patiently (or not) waiting to get my hands on one, but scanning through this, and other forums, I am drawn to the amount of discussion there is on hacking the iPhone.

Is there anyone left who has an iPhone but doesn't have it hacked?
I hadn't intended to go down the hacked route, but I'm wondering now what I will actually be missing?
In a nutshell, what features does hacking actually give you and can you live without it?

My phone is unhacked. I've not seen anything compelling enough to warrant it. I can wait a few months for Apple to release the SDK so we can get apps without actually "hacking" it.

I've hacked mine with the most recent easiest unlock method over wifi (apptap) but I'm in the same boat as dim. I have only installed themes wooptie doo.

The sdk kit is so close to being released you might as well wait.

Good to know there's more than one :)

I'm not big at hacking my devices either. I can see the appeal, but I'm just not into the hassle. To those that are into it, more power to them. :)

I only hacked mine to unlock it :) The games I have to say aren't too impressive, few minutes of fun though.

I am an att user that just recently applied apps/themes.

My iphone has become more useful, and enjoyable.

The question that you should be asking is....Why shouldn't you hack?

No hacking here. I've thought about it, but the pros aren't worth the cons at the moment and as someone else said, the SDK comes out in a few months and then hacking will be a non-issue.

My biggest complaint right now is that they want you to pay extra for ringtones *rolls eyes*. If it weren't for that, I'd have zero reasons to unlock it.

iphoneringtone maker works with firmware 1.1.1 and doesn't require hacking. Custom ringtones unlimited for $15 can't beat that.

Reasons to Hack:

1: you live in a country where it isn't sold
2: you already have a contract with a carrier other than AT&T
3: your just that kinda person that has to hack everything.

i'm 1 & 3

See http://m.3wa.com/?p=222 for making your own ringtones. Update firmware and itunes first. Works great.

So what does hacking it give you that you can't imagine living without?
