Battery life (or lack thereof) of the Touch is a real problem, I think. I've bought more than one battery pack in my iPod history but lately I've seen some new batteries advertised that look intriguing.

I carry one of these all the time... http://www.boxwave.com/products/bundles/iphone-battery-adapter/iphone-charging-battery-pro-apple-iphone_2661.htm

It takes 4 AA batteries. I know there are special AA chargers just for iPod, but I like this one because it charges any USB device, like my cell phone, EBook reader, etc etc.

My question/comment has to do with some newish batteries I'm seeing advertised. I've always avoided rechargeable AA batteries because I carry these for emergency use, and rechargeables don't hold their charge more than a few weeks.

But now I'm seeing these... http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/index.php?cPath=122_141_142?osCsid=3da7c288dcdde4c cefd3c485918ab00f

The claim is that these batteries will hold their charge for up to a year. There are also some non-rechargeable lithium AAs that have some impressive mah ratings and a shelf life of many years. They're expensive, yes, but if I can carry 4 batteries with the lifespan of many more, I like that.

I am curious as to whether anyone has any experience with these new rechargeable batteries? They seem too good to be true, is there any downside to using them?

Please note that I have no connection of any sort with either of these web sites, I'm just showing the charger I prefer (after trying several) and asking a question about batteries. So don't go off and buy this stuff on just my word. I am posting the links because I am genuinely interested in getting feedback from someone who knows a whole bunch more about batteries than I do.

Here, check this out if you don't wanna spend that kind of loot. I don't THINK this is against the forum rules, so here goes...

Make your own charger. I haven't done any of these yet, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Read the comments below each one before you make one to find out if people have had a lot of problems with them or if they work well.
