restore hacked iPhone and activate on iTunes legally?

well i've finally decided to just go with an add-a-line iPhone plan since it will only be $9.99 for the extra line and another $20 for the iPhone data plan.

but anyways, i've already used independence and jailbreak to unlock my iPhone to use my current cingular SIM card. I still have the original SIM card that came with the iPhone that has never been activated.

my question is, can i put in the unactivated SIM card, go a restore on the iPhone, and then activate it the "correct" way over iTunes?

any help would be greatly appreciated

yep, you should be all set...i had to do something similar...mine wasnt modded/hacked, but it was used...i put the fresh sim in and everything worked great.

was it already activated when you bought it used?
and then you did a restore so that it asked you to connect to iTunes to Activate right?

yep, the person i had bought it from previously used it as a go phone through att...i restored it, put the new sim in, and connected to itunes. so long as your not bricked, this should work for you.
