I think I was one of the first people to get this item, as I ordered it when it was originally announced, but I didn't actually get it until October 12th.

Upon first looks it's an amazing product. It looks cool and protects the iPod. After about an hour though, the click wheel protector fell off, which was not a big deal in my mind. After about 5 days of use and 3 flights later carrying it in my pocket, I noticed the case was getting quite scratched. During this first week of use, the product was not in contact with anything but my hands, and maybe the headphones while being held in my pocket.

Another complaint was that while the Peek-a-Boo feature (the screen is invisible while not on) it does make the screen much darker. To compensate for this you need to up the brightness quite a bit, thus taking away from your battery life while watching videos. Also since this case was scratch prone, it meant that the superficial scratches on the black screen were very distracting while watching video on the iPod 3G nano.

I filed a complaint with the Distributor for SwitchEasy in the US and he responded very fast and offered to send a replacement unit.

After another week I received the White Biscuit, which I am much happier with. While it does scratch still, it is less noticeable than the BlackBiscuit version. Also this has a clear screen protector, thus preventing any loss in brightness/contrast in the video playback.

Overall, service was great, however I am still questioning the durability of the screen protector as I am using my iPod 3G nano mainly for video use while traveling and Nike+ when on the ground. I would highly suggest using the 'static guard' on the back of the iPod as it can be easily removed and prevents any scratching to the glossy back of the iPod unit when removing the back part of the case (WHICH IT WILL DO, if you remove if >5 times). Another silly thing is that I was unable to get the sticky glue off the applicator, so now I have annoying glue on the guard...but thankfully not on the iPod.

Attached below are a few photos for your reference:

Hard to see Scratches:

PS The RunAway is a nice little product that I would suggest getting. It's a nice storage unit for your Nike+ and quite convenient. Does not slip during long runs, and protects your sensor when in use/storage.

scogold thanks for the update on your Ivory Biscuit. It was infact very informative and detailed, I really appreciate it.

One question I have to ask though you state the following "however I am still questioning the durability of the screen protector as I am using my iPod 3G nano mainly for video use while traveling and Nike+ when on the ground." Can you thouroughly explain why you question the durability of the screen protector on the ivory??? :)

The screen protector will not break. There is no doubt in my mind about that. It's just that I feel the way the product has been wearing for the past two weeks with the black version. I really wonder what it would look like under normal conditions after 6 months of use.

Since the White Biscuit has a clear screen, I do not see this as much of an issue, but who knows, maybe the scratches on the case's screen will get more annoying.

It's a minimal cost, so you might as well buy it now, then buy a new case in 6 months when they come out with perfected versions.

Long and Short: Buy the white one.

I'm trying to look for a second case which allows me to use my Shures without having to carry an adapotor cable.

I'm thinking iForgz or Marware, something not too expensive but cool looking. any recommendations?

Yikes, this turned out to be a nearly complete waste of $25.

Where to begin? The "static cover" for the back of the iPod is just a piece of thin plastic. It has no "static" qualities whatsoever. They put a pair of labels on it, one on each side, telling you which is the "static" side. There is no "static" side, and the labels won't come off although they are supposed to, so you end up tearing them both off and making a sticky mess, which then transfers to the back of your iPod. Dumbest, most useless thing I've ever seen.

As soon as I got the case on, I found out that I could no longer use my Ten Technology car adapter. The case is way too thick on the bottom. A deal breaker.

They also give you a little round translucent label to put over your click wheel. It's not quite transparent, so it looks like crap on your click wheel.

The only good part of the whole package is the Universal Dock adapter, which holds your iPod tightly in the dock, provides a cut-out for the low click wheel on this iPod, and still allows me to use my 2G Nano in the dock.

The only reason I don't send it back is that I plan to buy my daughter an iPod this Xmas, and maybe she can use this case, as she has no car adapter.

If you're looking for a case for your iPod 3G Nano, keep looking. This isn't the one.

I just got my ipod from china today, engraved -- and my biscuit case -- now obscuring the engraving... :) but i think it's smart... that ipod is gorgeous, but that back would get all scatched up in ahurry... and using this thing running or at gym, i'm sure i'd drop it... so i think the case is good idea. and i like this --- yes it's true, it more or less creates its own separate product design, but i think it's executed really well. all snaps tight, solid.

gotta go

i thought it was just plastic too. the directions were bad, minimal, and uninformative. Turns out that plastic sheet peels back off from a clear backing, and indeed what you peel off is a static guard and sticks right onto the nano. you are right though. the labels informing you which side is up, which is down, actually stick to the plastic. It's the only sloppy thing about it all. I had to use some of that "goo remover" or whatever it's called that dissolves the remains of sticky labels.

NOTE TO SWITCHEASY ! Geez, man, way to go to start people off with a terrible and WRONG impression. Get some light-tac labels or you'll really turn people off. because other than that, it is a shiny great product. the end.

oh yeah: Maybe I missed a set of more detailed instructions, but I'm very visual sop i like illustrated quick-start guides. In this case (!) however, there was not enough info. And it wasn't until after I'd snapped together my nano into its case that I noted the lanyard which I had not yet attached. So i figured, all right, i have to snap it back open and attack the lanyard first.

but as of this writing, I have not been able to get case open, and too scared to force it, becasue not sure which direction to apply prying pressure.

Also, the plastic insert that covers up the sync cable port? It's also super-snug... maybe there is something really simple I missed about how to extract it so i could plug in the nano to charge (hey it's my first ipod ever) ... but i could not get that thing out til i used a screwdriver to pry up one end slightly, so then i could slip a fingernaol at the other end then lift straight to get it off. I guess if it never needed to be charged that would be a feature. However, i look forward to finding out from the designers what is their method for removal.

Now, can anyone here help be my "ipod coach" and be avail for really basic Q's about moving files around, syncing, and transferring video formats to play on this thing?

I am waiting now for my Ultimate Ears ear-canal earphones... every review i read gave them, major thiumbs up -- headphone.com, trustedreviews.com, and a few more.

i had read about the thin little scotch-tape looking clear sticker that goes over the click wheel. I simply didn't put it on. I am not choosing to use it. I should have mentioned that in my photos. The click wheel is the actual surface of the ipod, i have no plastic layer over the click wheel.

I may ask switcheasy about all this, given i think they are in berkeley and i am in SF. They really have to fix that tape issue. and if they're smart, they'd solve the clickwheel cover (IF NEEDED AT ALL), and send to ebveryone who bought one a replacement "circle".

But to be clear -- i think it is perfect -- a great way to protect the ipod when you know you're going to be dropping it time to time. and as for anyone complaining about scratches to the actual plastic of the biscuit, i wonder if you also leave plastic covers on your sofas and chairs in the living room, and take them off only for company...

It's a protective case. that's its job. :)

Quicksite I really want to thank you personally, for going out of your way to post some very unique shots. I love the close up of the Biscuits and the lighting is perfect.  ;). Your pics really show how effective the biscuit compliments the Ipod. If only switcheasy had a silver colour to compliment the Ipod as oppose to Ivory white I would have given it 5/5. I give the biscuit4.5/5!!

yay! you're welcome. and here I thought i was too late to the show.

I understand how you'd want a silver option, but i have to say that for the material design, plastic, i don't actually think it would look quite as spiffy... It's funny because I got a silver nano -- and nothing about it is visible! :( ----- even the engraving.

forever the tech optimist, i actually wrote switcheasy to ask them to issue a better click wheel cover -- and, to consider the whole new strategy for apple of engraving for identification... suggesting they cut a window on the back side positioned at the location where engraving appears... i'm surprised they did't consider that.

The only other tweeks I've made are: (1) in attaching that lanyard, I cut it to be half the length they ship so it's easier to wrap on the wrist and carry... and, given how slick and shiny the surface, I actually had to attach gripper plastic -- "egrips" to the back in two spots so i don;t drop it.

I also don't use the port connector cover -- it's just too much effort to take it on and off.

Question for you: Since it's my intent to use the biscuit without the cheapo plastic cover for the clickwheel, is that a mistake?

I've never had an ipod before, so not sure what kind of issue it is to keep that surface covered... is it for protection from spilling a drink on it?

glad my pix were helpful. had you already purchased one before hand? thanks! quicksite in SF

Hey Quicksite, to answer your question yes I did purchase my Switcheasy biscuit ahead of time hehe lol:) and It's a good thing I did before Christmas rush.

The click wheel cover provided is essentially suppose to cover the wheel itself from the elements (i.e spills, water, etc.) However for preference alot of people chose not place it on which is fine as well. It's no biggie if you didn't use. It's just to protect the Nano wheel from getting dirty anyways, but If that's not an issue for you don't worry about it.

And your absolutely right when you say that the bottom port connector is awfully difficult to use. I must have gone through headache taking it off and putting it back on multiple times. I still love the fact that Switcheasy engineered the case to hug the Nano like it's baby, just genius lol.

I must commend you again for bringing up the issue with Switcheasy about the engraving for future Nano's. My Nano is completely hidden from public view it's like it's hiding inside my biscuit and afraid to come out lol.;)

I'd recommend the clear case. I got the red, black and crystal cases, and I like the clear case the best. The red one is cool, but I'm not too crazy about the color. The black one just plane sucks. The clear one is definitely the hands down winner. You can see the true color of the player as well as the chrome back, and it just looks cool.

I also picked up a Marware SportGrip case which I like quite a bit since the clear case, which I like a lot, could be prone to some nasty scratching.

I also like the InvisibleShield films. I put one on my 5g Video iPod, and it looks pretty cool.
