i have read every single review of iphone cases here (and have purchased two) and none of them really suits my needs. which are (in order from most to least):

- belt clip functionality
- drop/scuff/impact protection
- complete coverage (when holstered)
- usability while in case

i purchased the incase fitted sleeve and the folio. they both come close BUT:
the folio is of almost no use in a vehicle as you cant easily open and lift out to identify a call with one hand when its not being worn on a belt/pocket/strap.
the fitted sleeve comes really close to right but it offers no robust screen protection and it doesnt fit quite as well as id like - especially with regard to the volume controls.

i looked at the uniea u suit folio which comes close but i can tell from the review that it also isnt quite right.

here is what id consider perfect:

- silicone shell (i personally consider it the best material for shock absorbing)
- integrated belt clip (ive seen TOO MANY clip on/adjustable belt clips pop off)
- top down or sideways orientation so you can read the screen while looking down at your waist
- a right opening screen cover flap with magnetic closure
- cut outs for volume, headphone, proximity sensor, dock cable and camera

DONE! i dont think any of this would prove too difficult as just about all of the current offerings provide all of these in one combination or another

I purchased this same case today at the Apple store and like it quite a bit. The edges are almost a rubberized grip. All ports are easily accessible. I like that it is not an integrated clip but the way this thing is made it is not falling off. You can also orient it however you want (the clip swivels 360 degrees). It does not cover the face of the iPhone but when you clip it to your belt you can put it face in or face out. I have been putting mine face in so that if I bump into anything it won't scratch the face. The back is completely protected and just has the cutout for the camera.

I only have one complaint and that is that I wish it came out of the case a little easier because at home I would rather have it out of the case and I dock it at night.

i realze that im being pretty specific in my needs. but i think these are pretty fundamental things that everyone would appreciate...

and no- i dont think expecting good design is being too picky.

yeah, the contour showcase looks like it comes pretty close as well - but:

1. i hate clear hard plastic. cant stand the way it feels and if crud gets behind it, its trapped and you have a "crud terrarium" until you remove and clean it.

2. i ride a scooter and clip ins make me nervous over bumpy city streets

i will dash into the apple store and have a look see though - thanks for the suggestion y'all!

Originally I liked my showcase. ^This is he reason mine is going on ebay and I am trying a Agent 18 with Power Support Crystal Film. See how that goes.

I have the contour clear case and like it. It is tough to get in and out of the shield, have to push it up and out by the speaker/dock connector area. It may be due to me also having a crystal film cover on the screen. I guess you could say it's double wrapped. Just one complaint. The belt clip when new clicks when rotated and has more resistance from free spinning. After about a week it wears in and will spin freely in the holster now.
Just got this one on order http://www.switcheasy.com/iPhone.htm with the vision clip. Will see how it goes.

As for the problem with the Contour holster starting to spin, contact Contour and they will send you a new holster. There was a design flaw that they corrected. I got my new holster yesterday and I can tell the difference. The old design allowed the holster to be placed several different angles. The new design allows just four positions (90 degrees apart).

Since I like the iPhone in the "Horizontal" position on my belt, I glued the clip in place so it no longer swivels. One of the advantages is that the holster no longer "gives" a little at the clip when you pull the iPhone from the holster.
