Im considering purchasing an iphone from apple.com and havign it shipped to my sister in the us. Is it possible to purchase just the iphone or do I need to sign up for a contract?

Also does anyone know if the refurbished iphones can be bought without contract?

you do not sign up for a contract at purchase - this happens at activation in itunes after receiving the iphone (unless you circumvent it by using an unlocking program or something). same thing for refurbished phones.

i bought a 4 gig refurb from apple & couldnt be happier! Same as a brand new one cosmetically, fast shipping with a tracking number, cant beat it!
