Got a new iPod/Adapter FireConnect 4300 today. Running Win98SE (I know I should upgrade, but I haven't). My fireconnect seems to be working properly (iPod charges), but it does not give the iPod a drive letter.

Any suggestions. I ran the "updater.exe" successfully the first time and I installed ephpod, but when I first ran ephpod I could not find the iPod.

Thanks so much for some help.

Does the iPod show "Do Not Disconnect"? When you ran the updater, it completed properly when you clicked "restore"?

Usually if the ipod isn't showing up as a drive in My Computer the updater won't work, that's why I ask.

The first time I connected it yes. I ran the updater, seemed to work ok. Opened ephpod and I couldn't see the iPod as an available drive.

Closed ephphod. Got a bunch of error messages, and had to restart. Since that time. No evidence of connection. No "Do Not Disconnect", and obviously the updater does not work.

I tried re-installing the FireWire card in a different slot. No luck.

When I try and "Force Firewire", I get a "Ok to disconnect" message on iPod screen.
